SOAPBOX HOUSTON: AN EXPERIMENT IN FREE SPEECH
SATURDAY, JUNE 5 FROM 2:00 PM TO 3:30 PM CT

In an age of deep political polarization, inspired by the Hyde Park Speakers’ Corner in London, Soapbox Houston is an exercise in free-speech, attempting to further coalition-building and unity through the honest sharing of ideas. Interested speakers will have up to five minutes to present their viewpoints. We ask that they refrain from personal attacks, incitement and hate speech, broadly considered. The five minute time limit will be strictly enforced.

We will use a small portable PA system to ensure that the speakers can be heard and the event will take place on the central lawn of Live Oak Friends Meeting.

Anyone with any interest to speak may do so, and those interested in speaking can register for a time-slot here. There are only about 20 slots available for this event but we expect to do this experiment periodically going forward.

Masking and social distancing will be observed and we’ll sanitize the microphone between speakers.

We hope you can join us.
